A QUIET PASSION
It is a homage to the great american 19th century poet Emily Dickinson ( Cynthia Nixon ). Against almost complete indifference to her work, she continued to develop her poetry to the finest degree, of minimum language and idiosyncratic punctuation. Despite physical illness and constant pain she never despaired and therefore has given the world some of the greatest intimate poetry that we possess. Her achievement is even more heroic when out of 808 poems, fewer than 11 were published during her lifetime.
